Moore’s Law defines the history of technology. It held that the number of circuits etched on a given piece of silicon could double every 18 months as far as its author, Intel co-founder Gordon Moore, could see. Moore’s Law has spawned constant revolutions since then, not just in computing but in communications, in science, in a host of areas. Moore’s Law applies to radios, and to optical fiber, but there are some areas where it doesn’t apply. In this blog we’ll take a daily look at new implications of Moore’s Law in real time, as it rolls forward to create our future.

James Gregory.jpgThere are days when I dream of a White House presser where a reporter snaps a Queen of Hearts at the President, just to see if they can trigger something.

If this guy were created by our enemies to destroy us he couldn't be doing a better job.

Queen of Hearts.jpgConsider. Back in 2000 the U.S. represented 29% of world economic production. Now it's closer to the 1990 number of about 20%. Computing, science and engineering are all declining in popularity among young people. Jobs are being outsourced like mad and older programmers can't find work because "they demand too much money." Support for basic research is down across the board.

Meanwhile, a useless war has wrecked the greatest Army in the world, punched a hole in our budget even Bill Clinton couldn't climb out of, and anyone who points this out "hates America." Basic science is being replaced by nonsense in Kansas, gas is $2/gallon, the dollar is becoming worthless, every nation in the world seems to hate our guts, and Americans are turning into Mr. & Mrs. Creosote before our eyes.

Oh, and Americans hate one another so much that those last two fact-filled paragraphs will have some branding me an enemy of the state. My normal skeptical stance also has me branded an enemy by an army of increasingly-Wahabbiast MegaChurch Baptists that want to make the liberal impulse unconstitutional by packing the courts.

Am I missing something?

Well, yes I am. Newton's Second Law of Politics.

For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.

It is sad to see such true statements go uncommented. On the other hand, all I can say is "Amen brother" and as usual the extremists has highjacked nationalism and patriotism. Personally I find it hilarious to see the right speak for BIG GOVMINT and INTERNATIONAL INTERVENTION something they would never have done before in their "rule yourself locally not federally" and isolationist frame of mind in yonder years.

With hopes they are faring well and someone more competent will take over soon, very very soon...
